Can customers specify the cloud providers included in a VPC?
Yes, CloudJuncxion is unique in simultaneously leveraging multiple clouds and letting customers specify the choice of cloud providers - or multiple regions/zones of a provider - that constitute a VPC.
CloudJuncxion currently supports AWS, Google, MS Azure, and other cloud providers that are S3-compatible. A maximum of four cloud providers can be included in the mix.
Can CloudJuncxion or the cloud providers access VPC data?
Enterprise customer data is encrypted, fragmented, and dispersed across the constituent clouds in the VPC ensuring maximal protection against unauthorized access by any one of the cloud providers.
Authentication servers are completely under the control of the enterprise, and servers can be hosted in the cloud or in the enterprise data-center, if desired.
Is a VPC resilient to cloud failures?
The VPC configuration provides options for tolerating failure of one constituent cloud transparently. A minimum of three cloud providers or storage buckets are required in this scenario.
CloudJuncxion's proprietary storage methodology ensures continued access to your data even if one of the clouds experiences a complete outage. Moreover, this resiliency is achieved without replication of data across different clouds. Avoidance of replication lowers storage costs and reduces the number of potential attack vectors, as there are no complete instances of your files in any of the clouds.
Is any on-premises private infrastructure needed?
CloudJuncxion VPC does not require any private infrastructure. All required servers and storage are public cloud-based, but private assets can be leveraged, if necessary.
What applications can the enterprise host on a VPC?
Run applications such as Backup, Sharing, and Sync for secure sharing, collaboration, and protection of your data.
Use the CloudJuncxion API for leveraging the benefits of multi-cloud storage in other applications.
What's included in a VPC?
Every VPC broadly comprises a data plane and a control plane.
The data plane includes the buckets used for storage of data with the cloud providers that constitute the VPC. The choice of providers used is under the control of the enterprise customer. Upon completion of setup of accounts with the cloud providers, access to those accounts and the associated buckets is entirely under the control of the enterprise (with no access possible even for CloudJuncxion).
A VPC includes applications such as Secure Sharing, Backup, and Sync, and all of them use the VPC data plane for secure storage of files.
Figure 1: VPC Data Plane
Control Plane manages authentication and metadata associated with services that use the Data Plane. The Control Plane also hosts the servers required for the web app used for sharing and collaboration. Control Plane includes the following services: Authentication Server Metadata HTTP server for Secure Sharing and Web App Statistics Database IP Geolocation Server
Figure 2: VPC Control Plane
The control plane software is hosted on dedicated compute instances (not shared or used for other VPC instances) in the cloud or on servers owned by the enterprise customer.
Upon completion of setup, access to the compute instances implementing the control plane is entirely under the control of the enterprise (with no access possible even for CloudJuncxion).
Enterprise VPC customers have access to the CloudJuncxion API that allows for easy integration of the multi-cloud storage capability used by the VPC with existing or new enterprise apps. The API is also used by the Sharing, Backup, and Sync apps that come bundled with the VPC. Learn More
Managing relationships with the public cloud providers
Interaction with the public cloud providers is usually minimal, and CloudJuncxion supports two different models for maximal flexibility: Upon completion of setup, only the enterprise customer has control and access of accounts at the providers. CloudJuncxion does not have any access to either the accounts or the servers in the control plane. Monthly billing is handled directly by the enterprise customer. CloudJuncxion manages the accounts and associated billing. The interaction with the cloud providers is transparent in this model.
